ABOUT THE PROJECT
The aim of Romani Ambassadors 2.0 is to address skill gaps and mismatches in social workers supporting Roma youth in education by providing them with a one-to-one mentoring approach to help guide effectively disadvantaged young people on their way to inclusive education.
Mentoring resources
To capitalize the existing European experience in the process of providing counseling services to marginalized people.
Mentoring toolkit
To adapt the existing knowledge into an innovative training curriculum.
Local Labs
To introduce reliable and effective mentoring methodology aiming at supporting Rroma youth in the educational process and career guidance.
Equip trainers
To upgrade the existing skills of social workers, counselors and trainers in the filed of Rroma support services.
MATERIALS
WHAT IS "MENTORING"?
Mentoring is an essential approach to provide students an inclusive environment to orient them towards learning positive habits in the long-term educational process, based on the principle that quality education should fit the learner rather than requiring them to fit into an existing system.
This project is a follow up of previously implemented initiatives under Erasmus+ and other European funding initiatives, intends to continue the successful implementation of training opportunities that foster Roma inclusion and integration both in education and employment market. In this line, mentoring represents a comprehensive support package for youngsters since it can provide them with a positive role model, support them with their learning, offer opportunities to discuss and find solutions to challenges they may be facing.
RECENT EVENTS
BRASOV, Training of Trainers
November, for the "Training of Trainers. A brain to pick and an ear to listen". We presented the current situation in our countries with early school dropout, particularly with Roma communities. We shared best practices and studied the competencies and techniques a mentor should have.
STOCKHOLM TRANSNATIONAL MEETING
On the 20th and 21st of June 2022, the partners for the project met up for the very first time in person to discuss various tasks of the project planning.
LOCAL MEETINGS
Organization of two local meetings in the six cities to research about the mentor profile, get in contact with other organizations and adress the topic of the project Romani Ambassadors 2.0.
BADALONA, TRANSNATIONAL MEETING
On 21 and 22 March, the partners met in person in Badalona, Spain. Over the course of these two days together, we were able to talk about the project's next objectives and organized the "A push in the right direction" bootcamp for rroma professionals in the educational field.
BULGARIA, FINAL MEETING
El pasado 13 y 14 de septiembre nos reunimos en Bulgaria para la coordinación del proyecto con el resto de compañeros y compañeras. Hablamos y decidimos objetivos para la plataforma y consideramos opciones para la sostenibilidad del proyecto Romani Ambassadors 2.0.
